Klay Thompson has been shooting hot and cold for the Golden State Warriors, but there are a lot of things to consider. He does manage to light it up when needed, although it pales in comparison when previous years are to be recalled.

Seeing how the Warriors have a stacked lineup, there is actually no need for Klay Thompson to hog the ball and shoot like crazy. Right now, he is shooting a career-low in field goals at 44 percent and 33.7 percent from the three-point region, Forbes reported. His shot selection has been criticized, although opposing teams now know better than to leave the streak-shooting guard open. So is Klay forcing the issue?

From hindsight, that seems to be the case. Not many will take notice of his struggles since Steph Curry, Kevin Durant or even Draymond Green are also in the picture. But what does this indicate as far as his future in Dub City is concerned?

Curiously, as far as the Warriors are concerned, the decision of Kevin Durant has been given more attention than other players. Thompson is also set to become a free agent and little has been mentioned on what the 28-year-old guard’s decision will be this summer.

Seeing the success of the Warriors thus far, it may all depend on what Thompson is looking for after this season. Should the Warriors win it all again, will Klay go on to fulfill other things like maybe a bigger payday and win an NBA title with another franchise other than the Dubs?

Speaking of money, Thompson is eligible for a contract starting at 30-percent of the salary cap for five years with an annual raise of 8-percent. Doing the math, Klay could earn as much as $32.7 million, with a total deal roughly reaching about $192 million. But can this be factored in by the Warriors considering they are facing salary cap problems?

This is where the interesting part comes in. Unless Thompson agrees to bargain on his next payday, there is a chance he could move on to another team. And the team that comes to mind is the Los Angeles Lakers which his dad, Mychal Thompson, previously played for.

Better yet, the ongoing murmurs of Anthony Davis possibly heading to Hollywood could sway Klay to join the purple and gold, Yahoo Sports reported. He would join Davis and LeBron James to form a new big three, possibly the triumvirate that can help the Lakers get back to its winning ways.

However, the question remains – will the Lakers dangle Klay a lucrative deal? If his current level of play would be the basis, such is up for debate. But then again, the NBA is only in the regular season which means that Klay Thompson could fire it up and end the season with a hot hand.
