  • Steph Curry is back on the Warriors roster after missing the past few months with a hand injury
  • Curry still plans to pursue playing for Team USA in the Olympics
  • The Warriors are last in the NBA team standings

The NBA missed out for the past 127 days, as it has been that long since the basketball world saw Steph Curry step on the court. He injured his left hand on an awkward fall last October against the Phoenix Suns and sidelined him for the majority of the season. This derailed the Golden State Warriors as the team went into a series of changes in their roster. Their offseason acquisition of D’Angelo Russell was traded during the deadline for former number one overall pick Andrew Wiggins.

The team is completely different from the recent dominant years that brought them to five straight Finals appearances. They are now in a rebuilding phase and seek to end the season on a strong note. The Warriors are the favorites to top the lottery draft picks next year and improve on their roster with young talent.

While Curry wants to return and make an immediate impact on the floor, he understands the precaution that comes with it. “Hopefully there aren’t any thoughts and I get to play my game the way I see it, react and make plays without hesitation. If I need to make a left-handed pass or finish with my left or defend and get a deflection or take a hit with it.”

He adds that he’s confident with what he has to do with the basketball and just wants to be on the court. “I just gotta get out there and play,” Curry shared.

While the year has been rough for the team, Curry’s plans for the upcoming Olympic games are still good to go. His focus now is to take care of himself in the final stretch of the season. “The focus now obviously is just to try and stay healthy in the last 20 games,” he said.

The Warriors are last in the league with a 14-48 record. The full strength of the team will only be seen next year as Klay Thompson recovers from his ACL injury. The team will also have a lottery pick in the draft and are speculated to be either Anthony Edwards or James Wiseman.
