The 2022-23 NBA season has yet to start, but it appears several teams are already trying to prepare for it oddly.

While most teams are trying to find ways to win it all this season, there are several teams expected to go in a different direction.

A reason behind this is a 7-foot-4 player who goes by the name of Victor Wembanyama.

The French national's name has been frequenting headlines in the past weeks with most eager to see him make the NBA jump.

The ones with the best chances of getting his services are the teams at the bottom of the standings, and it may all boil down to a race for lottery pick chances.

Speaking to PTV Sports, American sports journalist Roland Lazenby believes that some teams will try to find ways to lose games to position themselves for a player of Wembanyama's caliber.

"There are teams lining up to lose games to be in a position to have a player like that. This may be the ultimate tanking season," Lazenby stated.

"The Warriors I don't think will be in the sweepstakes. It's going to be interesting how many people in the front offices of these teams break into contortions just to find ways to lose so they can get into the lottery, win the pick and get him."

The 18-year-old is being projected as the first overall pick of the 2023 NBA Draft.

A glimpse of his court proficiency was seen when Wembanyama saw action against the G League Ignite, where he normed 36.5 points 7.5 rebounds, and 4.5 blocks while also shooting 50% of his 18 attempts from the three-point region.

There is no doubt that Wembanyama, who owns an 8-foot wingspan, will be an asset on both ends of the basketball court.

Hence, the question now is which NBA team will be able to get him in 2023.
