KEY POINTS

  • The Toronto Raptors are currently in a historic 15-game win streak
  • Their win streak is the best in the franchise and in all of Toronto's professional sports
  • Serge Ibaka gifted the team with oversized scarves as a fashion statement

The defending champions the Toronto Raptors were questioned at the start of the season if they had what it takes to return to the playoffs. Their superstar Kawhi Leonard jumped to the LA Clippers after winning the franchise’s first-ever NBA title. They were perceived as a rebuilding team with their top player moving on to a different contender.

But their current performance tells otherwise. The team is now in a historic 15-game winning streak as they defeated the debuting D’Angelo Russell and the rest of the Minnesota Timberwolves, 137-126.

This is already a franchise-best for the Toronto Raptors as they haven’t lost a game since their one-point defeat, 104-105, against the San Antonio Spurs earlier last January. This streak is also the longest win streak by a Canadian franchise in a major sporting league.

Their wins have been in convincing fashion as they’ve displayed an all-around effort. They’re led by veteran point guard Kyle Lowry and first-time All-Star Paskal Siakam. But another thing that has left a mark in this remarkable run by the Toronto Raptors is how they flaunt their off-court fashion sense.

Serge Ibaka and OG Anunoby can be pinpointed by the organization of starting an oversized fashion trend within the team.

While it’s unclear whether it was Serge Ibaka or OG Anunoby who originated the style, it’s evident now that the team is in support of the scarves. Serge Ibaka took his scarf game to a higher level by giving the entire team scarves.

As Ibaka and Anunoby continue to dispute on who is the best and original scarf connoisseur of the Toronto Raptors, the team continues to be one of the top teams in the league.

They are currently at second place in the Eastern Conference. They have a 40-14 win-loss record and are 6.5 games behind the Milwaukee Bucks. Their next game will be against the Brooklyn Nets as they try to extend their win streak as long as their scarves.
