Apple released its newest USB-C Digital AV Multiport Dongle featuring the 60Hz 4k video capability.

A recent report suggested that Apple released its newer version of its USB-C digital AV multiport dongle this week. The launch did not make much noise in the mobile industry as the Cupertino tech giant choose to release the said product quietly.

Apple’s new USB- C adapter release brings good news to avid video geeks. iPad Pro and iMac Pro users can now enjoy 60Hz of 4K 3840 x 2160 video. This is primarily because Apple’s newest USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter comes with added support for HDMI 2.0.

Apple users of Retina iMax, that was introduced in 2017 onwards, may also take advantage of the high-resolution video. The same goes with the 15-inch MacBook Pro that was launched not earlier than 2017.

However, there are some considerations that must be taken in order to fully enjoy the features brought about by the Apple USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. An iOS 12.4 update is required for the iPad Pro while the iMac Pro must be running a macOS Mojave 10.14.6 or later.

Apple users must also make sure that they are using a compatible display, TV projector or any playback device so that they may also take advantage of the Dolby Vision and support for the HDR video and HDR10.

A monitor duplicate can also be possible with Apple’s newest USB-C Digital AV Multiport Dongle. An HDMI compatible display can be output for Mac by simply connecting the iPad Pro or Mac using the USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port and an additional HDMI cable.

The release of the new dongle signals the end to the original USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. Apple officially discontinued the release of the said adapter which was released years back.

In spite of the release of Apple’s USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter model A2119, iPhone, iPad and Mac users may still continue to see the model A1621 in the market. Both models can also be acquired via Apple’s online store and Amazon with the earliest shipment anticipated by Monday, August 12.
