The New York Jets pulled off the biggest upset of Week 6, beating the Dallas Cowboys at MetLife Stadium. Don’t expect them to do the same in Week 7 when they host the NFL’s best team.

The New England Patriots are 9.5 point road favorites against the Jets on “Monday Night Football,” according to the latest betting line at OddsShark. The over/under is 44.

New England already routed New York at Gillette Stadium 30-14 earlier in the 2019 season. Luke Falk started at quarterback for the Jets, who didn’t score an offensive touchdown in that game.

The Jets will be much more equipped to challenge their AFC East rivals in the second meeting. Sam Darnold is going to be back under center for New York. It sounds linebacker C.J. Mosley will be back on the field for the first time since Week 1.

Darnold was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week in his first game back since the season opener. The second-year quarterback completed 23 of 32 passes for 338 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in a 24-22 victory.

It’s going to be much harder for Darnold to even have an average performance in Week 7. New England has made opposing signal callers look awful all season long.

The defending champions have held quarterbacks to a league-low 42.6 passer rating. The Patriots have given up one passing touchdown to go along with their NFL-leading 14 interceptions.

Darnold was bad in Week 1 against a very good Buffalo Bills’ defense, throwing for just 175 yards on 41 attempts. As they do in most categories, the Patriots rank first in opponents’ yards per attempt, surrendering just 5.3 yards per pass.

New England is first in points allowed, yards allowed and yards allowed per play. The Patriots sit atop the AFC in both run defense and pass defense.

Darnold went 16-28 for 167 yards and a 74.6 passer rating in New England in Week 17 of last year. Maybe Darnold is better now, but so is this Patriots’ defense.

Jet quarterbacks have been sacked more than anyone. New England is first in the AFC with 25 sacks.

The Patriots beat the Jets 38-3 when Darnold started at Gillette Stadium in 2018. New England has beaten New York by at least two touchdowns in four straight meetings.

Tom Brady and the Patriots have won five of their six games by 16 points or more. The only close matchup was a six-point win in Buffalo, who is undefeated when they aren’t playing New England.

The Jets still aren’t a very good team. The Patriots will do to them what they’ve done to every mediocre opponent on their schedule.

Prediction: New England over New York, 27-10
