• Paris Saint-Germain youth team star Kays Ruiz-Atil is being dubbed as "new Lionel Messi"
  • Ruiz-Atil reportedly turned down new deal from PSG
  • Arsenal and Chelsea are both keen on signing Ruiz-Atil

A Paris Saint-Germain youngster reportedly rejected a new deal to extend his contract and has opened himself up for new opportunities with other clubs.

There has been an array of talented youngsters across Europe’s top five leagues. With the coronavirus crisis causing clubs some financial problems, the rebuilding process in their rosters is deeply affected. But for the young prospects, this could be the perfect time to finally find their way into the first team and for some, to the biggest clubs.

One of the most promising youngsters today is Kays Ruiz-Atil, a midfielder playing for Ligue 1 club Paris Saint-Germain. Ruiz-Atil has been impressive in PSG youth team and has earned the nickname “New Messi.” The 17-year-old made the switch from Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 2015 and has emerged as a future star since then. However, despite proclaiming that he is ready for the big challenge, Ruiz-Atil hasn’t been handed his senior debut yet for the French club, a breakthrough he’s been longing for for quite some time.

According to Le Parisien (via, Ruiz-Atil is now reportedly open to part ways with the Parc des Princes for better career opportunity even outside Ligue 1. The situation has not gone unnoticed, and in fact, it even captured the attention of several big sides across Europe.

Premier League giants Arsenal have been named as a frontrunner in signing Ruiz-Atil. The club is believed to have gained confidence in pursuing the youngster after news broke that he rejected a new Paris Saint-Germain deal. According to Foot Mercato, the Gunners have been monitoring Ruiz-Atil since February while their Premier League rivals Chelsea were also said to be interested ahead of the summer window.

Ruiz-Atil’s sudden decision to leave PSG is widely known in the French side as a backlash of the management’s decision to delay his first team debut. The French midfielder, who is set to become a free agent next summer, has turned down the opportunity to sign fresh terms until the summer of 2024 after Leonardo, PSG’s sporting director, refused to let him train with Thomas Tuchel’s first-team squad, despite a constant personal request.

On his Instagram post last month, Ruiz-Atil hinted at the possibility of taking his talents elsewhere by divulging his current situation at PSG to the world.

“If PSG doesn’t want me to train with the pros, there are other clubs. It will not end at PSG,” Ruiz-Atil wrote.
