This week’s edition of WWE “Raw” will air on tape delay due to the show falling on New Year’s Eve. The show featured the first announcement for the 30-man Royal Rumble match, with John Cena announcing his involvement in the match, and promising a victory, reports NoDQ.

As Dolph Ziggler and AJ Lee toasted the New Year at the end of the show, the heel duo boasted about John Cena’s awful 2012. The Cneation Leader had a considerable bad year, not holding a single title, and losing the majority of his big matches.

Cena stormed the ring and interrupted the Showoff’s toast, saying that 2013 will be different and that he’ll start off by winning the Royal Rumble. A Cena Rumble victory makes sense, being that it would lead to Cena vs. Rock II at WrestleMania XXIX for the WWE Championship.

Cena started off the night in a tag team match with the Miz. The two former rivals defeated Rhodes Scholars. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes put up a lengthy fight against the two former WWE Champions, lasting around 20 minutes, according to NoDQ.

Despite the tape delay, the New Year’s Eve “Raw” features a title change, with Wade Barrett taking the Intercontinental Championship from Kofi Kingston. The two have put on high-end matches at recent events, and NoDQ claims that this match was up to their usual standards.

The United States Champion Antonio Cesaro had more luck on the NYE “Raw.” The Swiss Superstar cut an anti-America promo before beating WWE Legend Sgt. Slaughter.

Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler wrestled to no contest when the Shield interfered and attacked the Celtic Warrior. Before the interruption, the match had gone on for about 15 minutes.

The Shield was scheduled to face Ryback in a handicap match, but the trio never made ti to the ring for their match. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns tried to get the upper hand by attacking Ryback on his way to the ring, but Sheamus and Randy Orton came out to help the Big Hungry fight off his opponents.

WWE Champion CM Punk had a segment on the show about whether he could perform next week on “Raw” to defend his title. A doctor claimed that he couldn’t be cleared to wrestle, but Vince McMahon came out and overruled the doctor’s decision.

3MB received their first title match on “Raw,” facing Kane and Daniel Bryan for the Tag Team Championships. Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre lost the fight to Team Hell No.

Big Show had a match against Richardo Rodriguez with Alberto del Rio at ringside. The fight ended in a disqualification when the Mexican Aristocrat got involved.

Divas Champion Eve Torres made an appearance, challenging Mae Young to a title match. Young has been retired from competing for years, but Kaitlyn stormed the ring and attacked Eve.
