After the first 10 weeks of the NFL season, oddsmakers have not budged on their frontrunner for the league’s MVP. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is a minus-money favorite to win the league’s top individual honor, according to OddsShark.

Oddsmakers have the 23-year-old listed at -150 odds and Mahomes has a solid lead on the top contenders.

To little surprise, most of the MVP candidates are quarterbacks. New Orleans Saints star Drew Brees, who is in his 18th season, has the second-best odds at +300. Brees leads the NFL in quarterback rating (123.8), while Mahomes is second at 117.4.

Todd Gurley (+400) has the best odds of any non-quarterback and the third-best odds overall. The Los Angeles Rams running back has enjoyed an impressive season, leading the league in rushing yards (988), while also boasting 402 receiving yards. The only other non-quarterback with a decent chance at MVP is Brees' teammate Alvin Kamara (+2500), who is 15th in rushing yards and 43rd in receiving yards.

Rounding out the top MVP contenders are quarterbacks, Aaron Rodgers (+1600), Tom Brady (+1600), Jared Goff (+1800), Carson Wentz (+2000), Philip Rivers (+2000) and Cam Newton (+2800).

Mahomes appears to have the edge because of Kansas City's prolific offense. The Chiefs average more than 35 points per game, a nearly 10-point improvement from 2017.

Mahomes will likely remain the favorite if he maintains this pace. He has completed over 70 percent of his passes in his last four games and has just two games in which he had a passer rating below 110. Mahomes has already thrown for 3,150 yards, a franchise record 31 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Chiefs entered the season with a great deal of confidence in Mahomes, having traded away 2017 starter Alex Smith after his best season.
