There are eight NFL head coaching vacancies after Black Monday, but a few jobs stand out among the rest. The Green Bay Packers, Cleveland Browns and New York Jets hold the most coveted positions.

The next head coach of the Packers will inherit one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. The Browns and Jets haven’t experienced much success in recent years, but both teams have bright futures after their rookie quarterbacks showed a lot of promise in the 2018 season.

A few of the same candidates have been linked to at least two of those jobs. Former Lions and Colts’ head coach Jim Caldwell already interviewed with Cleveland, and he’s expected to meet with both Green Bay and New York. The Browns and Packers requested to interview Saints’ tight end coach Dan Campbell, and both are expected to include Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive line coach Mike Munchak in their search.

Former Packers’ head coach Mike McCarthy could end up with either the Browns or Jets. Both Cleveland and New York will reportedly interview the man that coached Green Bay from 2006-2018, and he’s the favorite to end up in the Big Apple.

If the Browns can’t land McCarthy, they might stick with someone that’s already on their coaching staff. Interim head coach Gregg Williams and offensive coordinator Freddie Kitchens are real contenders for the job after the duo led Cleveland to five wins in their final seven games.

Patriots’ offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will reportedly interview with Green Bay Friday, and he’s the favorite to become Aaron Rodgers’ next head coach. McDaniels has already proven he can coexist and succeed with an all-time great quarterback, having done so with Tom Brady for over a decade.

Adam Gase has been linked to all three teams, though the Jets are the only one with whom he reportedly has a scheduled interview.
