  • Tim Tebow could make an NFL return with the Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Tebow will likely play as a tight end, not a quarterback
  • The Jaguars have yet to reveal the status of Tebow following his tryout

Could Tim Tebow be making an NFL return?

The former Heisman Trophy winner is technically idle right now after retiring from minor league baseball with the New York Mets last February.

Since he started his career in pro football, the 33-year-old could be back on the field if all goes well.

Most know that Tebow started as a quarterback with the Denver Broncos in 2010. His NFL run was not exactly smooth, and he eventually found himself without a team.

Regardless, that will not stop Tebow or any other player to give up for as long as they are given a chance.

With former Florida coach Urban Meyer now calling the shots for the Jacksonville Jaguars, it appears that Tebow is leaning on an NFL comeback.

NFL.com reporter Ian Rapoport reported that the Filipino-Ameican worked out with the Jaguars, something that was granted upon the request of Tebow himself.

Best known as a quarterback, Tebow is trying out as a tight end.

As pointed out by Adam Schefter, this is a position that most felt should have been done by Tebow when he was still actively playing in the NFL as it could have extended his career.

Perhaps this is the reason why most feel that he is giving professional football another crack.

The development is also a surprise considering Tebow earlier shrugged off talk that he would not be joining his former college coach in Jacksonville.

However, it should be noted that he was still busy with baseball spring training when that question was asked in January.

"If [Meyer] decides to take a job, he’ll have my support," Tebow stated in January. "He’s like a father figure to me. I believe he’ll do a great job.

As of this writing, there remains no official word on the status of Tebow with the Jaguars.
