For the second straight year, the NFL playoff schedule is going to look a little different. Not only will there be six games on Wild-Card Weekend, but they’ll take place over the course of three days.

The league is adding “Monday Night Football” to the first round of the postseason. Wild-Card Weekend will include two games Saturday, three games Sunday and a final game Monday.

The first round of the playoffs is scheduled to start on Jan. 15, 2022. The Monday night playoff game will start at 8:15 ET on Jan. 17.

The NFL expanded the postseason last year, adding a third wild-card spot in both the NFC and AFC. The league also eliminated one of the first-round byes in each conference, creating a six-game schedule for the wild-card round.

There is a Monday night game on the schedule for the first 17 weeks of the regular season. No team will play on Monday night in Week 18.

Television ratings for “Monday Night Football” have improved to start the 2021 season. NFL viewership overall is up, compared to 2020.
