Rumors that the Arizona Cardinals are getting ready to trade Josh Rosen are only picking up steam amid the news that the team is meeting with Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray for the second time. While there has been plenty of speculation regarding which NFL teams might want to acquire Arizona's current quarterback, a new report suggests that a much-talked-about destination might not be as likely as it once appeared.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, there is no indication that the Redskins are making a push to trade for Rosen right now. Washington has been named among the possible trade partners for the Cardinals, and some have pegged the Redskins as the most likely team to make a deal with Arizona.

Garafolo noted that Washington could eventually become a player for Rosen if Arizona ends up targeting Murray with the No.1 overall pick in the NFL draft. The Cardinals seem to be seriously considering moving on from Rosen after just one year. No final decision has been made.

Few teams have as much of a need at quarterback as the Redskins. Alex Smith's broken leg is expected to keep him out for the entire 2019 NFL season, and there's a good chance he never plays football again. Washington traded for Case Keenum to replace Smith this offseason, though Keenum is far from a long-term solution for the sport’s most important position.

After coming off the best season of his career, Keenum had a mediocre year for the Denver Broncos in 2018. Colt McCoy remains with Washington, having spent years as the team's backup quarterback.

There has been a debate regarding what the Cardinals could get in exchange for a Rosen. Some believe it might only take a third-round draft pick. Perhaps they can get a second rounder if a bidding war ensues among a few teams.

The Cardinals traded up from No.15 to No.10 to pick Rosen in 2018. He was the fourth quarterback taken in the first round.

Washington could draft a quarterback with their first rounder. Murray will almost certainly be off the board when the Redskins are up at No.15. Dwayne Haskins will probably be gone, as well. Drew Lock could be the third quarterback taken in the first round, and there are rumors that Daniel Jones will also be among the quarterbacks taken on Day One of the draft.

The latest reports indicate that Arizona could draft Murray and decide not to trade Rosen right away.
