Obama says hopes to have budget deal Friday morning
President Barack Obama said there had been progress toward a budget deal to avert a government shutdown in talks with congressional leaders late on Thursday and he hoped to be able to announce a deal on Friday morning.
But Obama said he could not express wild optimism about the prospects for reaching a final agreement.
