The New York Giants’ decision to trade wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday has sent shockwaves through the National Football League (NFL), with many still unable to process why the decision was made -- including the player himself. The Giants will receive a first-round pick, a third-round pick, and safety Jabrill Peppers in exchange for Beckham Jr.

The news of the deal was first reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and he revealed that there were several teams in the mix after Giants general manager Dave Gettleman informed interested franchises that they will be “asking for the moon” when it comes to trading Beckham Jr.

The 26-year-old is considered one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and despite playing only 14 games in the last two seasons, he is ranked among the top receivers in the league. Beckham Jr. is in the top-5 in each major receiving category since entering the NFL in 2014.

He ranks third in targets, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns per game and comes in fourth in catches per game. Beckham Jr. is also the only wide receiver in Super Bowl era with two seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards in 12 or fewer games.

Beckham Jr. revealed to NFL Network’s Kimberly Jones that he has spoken to Gettleman after the trade agreement and admitted that he was still trying to process the news. He also revealed that it will be “bittersweet” to leave the Giants with whom he has spent his entire NFL career thus far.

“At this point, I have no idea what to think. I’m trying to process it right now,” Beckham Jr. said. “Leaving the New York Giants is bittersweet, but it is what it is. It’s life.”

If the 2014 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year was struggling to process the move –- the rest of the NFL went into meltdown after hearing of the deal the Browns had pulled off. Apart from the shock towards the Giants –- a lot of praise went the way of Browns general manager John Dorsey for pulling off the coup of the offseason.
