  • Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is expected to leave Manchester United
  • Valencia has been linked as a suitor for Pereira
  • Pereira has been with Manchester United since his days in the academy

The economic impact of the recent global pandemic has forced clubs to consider clearing out space for added financial resources. In Manchester United’s case, one player expected to leave the squad is midfielder Andreas Pereira, who has garnered interest from Valencia.

The 24-year-old is a graduate of Manchester United’s Academy as he started his career with the club since his youth days. One of his more prominent roles was stepping up for the U23 squad where he scored 10 times and tallied seven assists throughout 47 appearances. In addition to this, his stint with the first team features him suit up in a total of 75 games.

While Pereira is considered as a worthy talent, the arrival of Bruno Fernandes has forced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to considerably drop his minutes on the field. The new look of the Red Devils highlights Fernandes teaming up with Paul Pogba for a revitalized dynamic duo. Despite recently dropping out of the Europa League with a 1-2 loss against Sevilla, the roster of Manchester United remains promising. Players such as Marcus Rashford and Mason Greenwood show the potential that the team has for the future.

Preparing for the future, the team has been heavily linked to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho. Given that Sancho is one of the biggest names in the market, Manchester United have struggled in securing the deal. With news indicating that Sancho is happy to stay at Dortmund, securing financial resources and roster space would be the best option for the Old Trafford-based squad. This adds to the likelihood of Pereira leaving as Valencia has already emerged as a suitor, per Fansided’s Red Devil Armada.

There will be more playing time and opportunities for Pereira if he suits up for Valencia. Scouted as someone who excels in ball interception and key passes, his agility and feel of the game will benefit where he’s used more. It would be expected for the three-time U21 Premier League Champion to be a replacement for Dani Parejo.

It will be interesting to see how Manchester United plays the upcoming months in terms of their roster. Whether they’re able to free up space and land a prominent star soon, their team is looking to develop for the immediate future.
