The Chinese tech startup OnePlus is back with a new device after the successful release of OnePlus 1, OnePlus 2 and the latest OnePlus X. With no surprise in the naming convention, the OnePlus 3 is now making rounds in the blogosphere, thanks to the leaked renders and key configurations.

Dubbed as the “flagship killer,” OnePlus has always combined cutting-edge features and sleek design with an affordable price tag. Nonetheless, the notorious invitation based purchase model has been frowned upon by customers across the globe.

After releasing the OnePlus X in selected regions, the company didn’t make much noise with regard to devices. But then, interestingly, OnePlus launched the well-received “Sandstone case” for the Apple iPhones. Following this, a new leak from China said that the company’s next flagship OnePlus 3 is under development.

Phone Arena, meanwhile, said that the OnePlus 3 release date could be anytime in the next couple of months. According to the latest leak, the upcoming flagship will come powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor.

On the display front, the handset is rumored to come with 1,080 x 1,920 pixels screen resolution. In comparison, recently released devices from various Android OEMs have flaunted the killer QHD resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. Not to forget, some devices like Sony Xperia Z5 Premium are already sporting 4K display resolution. Yet, OnePlus doesn’t look like it’s going to increase the resolution anytime soon.

But then, the advantage of having a 1080p display is -- there will be fewer overloads on the housed processor and battery units. With Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 on board to complement the 1080p screen, the OnePlus 3 is guaranteed to be a power-packed device that is faster and efficient.

As far as the leaked renders go, the design language is relatively identical to the original OnePlus One. The edges of the device look rounded. The rear panel houses the camera unit with LED flash and the company logo.

There are some noticeable stripes alongside the corners of the handset. However, at this point, there is no official information available to ascertain the usability of those stripes. In any case, readers are advised to take the reported OnePlus 3 specifications and renders with the proverbial pinch of salt as the company has not confirmed any information so far.
