OnePlus was known for selling affordable smartphones that can easily rival top-tiers from other smartphone companies. In recent years, however, the company has started selling pricier devices. Now, a new leak reveals that the tech giant is returning to selling cheaper phones.

According to 91mobiles, OnePlus is working on a smartphone called the OnePlus 8 Lite, an affordable model included in the OnePlus 8 series that can be expected to be released during the first half of 2020. This is the first midrange smartphone OnePlus has created since the OnePlus X in 2015.

Renders coming from noted leakster @OnLeaks and published by 91mobiles reveal that the OnePlus 8 Lite will feature a design similar to Samsung's upcoming devices –the Galaxy S11, Galaxy A91 and Note 10 Lite – particularly because it will have a punch hole at the top-center of the screen. The display is expected to measure about 6.4 or 6.5 inches, and will have thin bezels on all sides.

The display's specs, such as resolution, pixel density and the like are unknown at the moment. It's unclear whether the display is LCD or OLED, but it might be the latter. If it is, then it's possible that the device will feature an under-display fingerprint reader, since a fingerprint reader is nowhere to be seen in the renders.

At the back of the phone is a curved glass panel with a camera module at the top left corner, similar to how it is placed on the iPhone 11 series and the upcoming Galaxy S11 Plus. Unlike the modules on those devices, though, the OnePlus 8 Lite will feature a rectangular module that can only fit two cameras, an LED flash, and what appears to be a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.

Details regarding the front-facing camera are unknown right now. Based on the renders, however. it's unlikely for the device to have Face authentication technology, as the components needed for it will take up some space. The device is expected to come in a slim frame that roughly measures 159.2 x 74 x 8.6mm. Its weight, along with other specs, are unknown at the moment.
