As the number one supporter of Hillary Clinton during the latter’s campaign for the presidency, it is not surprising that Katy Perry also embodies the values of feminism. Staring this weekend, however, she can finally say that she’s a full-fledged feminist after meeting feminist living icon and leader Gloria Steinem.

On Saturday, Perry took to Instagram to share her joy over meeting Steinem following the Women’s March. The “Roar” singer posted a snap of her wearing eyeglasses and a yellow beanie that goes well with her blonde locks. She can be seen flashing a smile beside Steinem, who also beams for the selfie shot. In the caption, Perry wrote that she finally received her wings and the blessing to be a full-fledged feminist.

According to Steinem’s personal website, she is a feminist organizer, political activist, writer and lecturer who has traveled to many countries in spreading the word about equality for women. In the 1960s, Steinem made a huge impact not only as a journalist, but also as the leader of the feminist movement during this decade.

Many of Perry’s fans congratulated her and left her positive messages. One fan wrote: “We are so proud of you, Katy. Keep it up.” Another fan commented: “Thank you for everything you do for women. That’s why I always carry you in my heart.”

Prior to getting Steinem’s blessing, Perry joined the numerous women and men who marched the streets to echo the call for equality. On Instagram, the “Dark Horse” hitmaker posted a baby photo of her and her sister Angela. She poured her heart out in the caption when stated that she’s really happy to march with her sister, whom she considers her guardian angel.

Perry admitted in her post that she used to have this misconception of the real definition of feminism. However, now that she knows what this movement is all about, she claimed she is empowered and that she’s ready to “break the cycle of suppression and inequality.”

Meanwhile, Orlando Bloom was not by Perry’s side when she attended the Women’s March. Nevertheless, Bloom did suggest on Instagram that he was one with his girlfriend when he posted about Women’s March even though he is currently in China.
