“Outlander” Season 4 will finally bring Brianna to the 18th century next week, and that means a big moment is coming for Jamie. He’ll finally meet his daughter.

Claire actress Caitriona Balfe said that the scene will be quite emotional. “I think it will be one that makes you quite teary, very warm,” she told the Hollywood Reporter. “It comes at a very sad time in terms of the arc of what Brianna’s going to go through, and the audience is still going to be feeling that through Bree. But there’s a lot of emotions going on in that scene. I think it will hopefully do justice for the book's readers and to everyone else. I do think it will be a tearjerker.”

First, however, Brianna (Sophie Skelton) must get to the colonies. She’ll arrive in Scotland in episode 7 and find her way onto a ship, but unfortunately, her journey will be a rough one. Readers know that Brianna will go through a lot on her way to meeting her father.

Of course, it isn’t just recent events that will affect how Jamie and Brianna interact. Jamie has never seen his adult daughter, and Brianna grew up with a different father. Balfe previously teased that the dynamic between Jamie (Sam Heughan) and his daughter will be a bit confusing for the characters.

“It’s very difficult for Jamie because he wants so much to be a parent, and to be a parent to Brianna. But when she arrives in his life, she’s an adult,” the Golden Globe nominee told Bustle. “As much as he wants to be a father, the needs of an adult are very different from the needs of a child. That’s a very difficult balance for him to be able to strike.”

Fans will get to see the drama unfold on “Outlander” Season 4, which airs Sundays at 8 p.m. EST on Starz.
