  • Manny Pacquiao's business manager Arnold Vegafria confirms fight against Mikey Garcia
  • Vegafria also reveals they have received offers from other opponents
  • Pacquiao had earlier said he wanted to take on Conor McGregor

Manny Pacquiao is making his return this year against Mikey Garcia, but a handful of other opponents are also being considered.

After almost two years of inactivity, Pacquiao is now set to step inside the ring again with a welterweight showdown against Garcia already being confirmed.

According to Pacquiao’s business manager Arnold Vegafria, who has been largely involved in the Filipino legend’s recent deals, Pacquiao vs. Garcia is happening in Dubai this year. However, an available date is still being decided.

“Yes, It will be against [Mikey] Garcia,” Vegafria told Filipino channel ABS-CBN News. “It will be between July and August. The exact date is still being decided by both parties.

“We’re still looking for a date which is available, but it will happen in Dubai for sure. [The promoters] are from Dubai.”

Even more interesting, Vegafria hinted that Pacquiao’s return could be a series of fights as there are “offers from other opponents” being reviewed as well.

“It (Pacquiao vs. Garcia) has been discussed already since last year, and yes, there are offers from other opponents as well,” he revealed.

Among Pacquiao’s long list of touted opponents, Garcia was the one who has long been claiming a fight with the world's only eight-division titlist.

Contrary to what Vegafria had just confirmed, Garcia earlier stated that the Pacquiao fight is targeted to happen next month.

“We’re finalizing all of the details,” Garcia told reporter Jo Ankier last month. “We hope to get the exact date and location in the next few days. We’re trying to get everything done for May.”

“It’s been in the works for a long time, particularly more in detail in the last year,” he continued. “Now, in the last few weeks, we’ve been getting very close to working on this and finalizing it. I’m pretty excited. We’ll have all of the details set in the next few days. It’s a matter of time. So far, it seems like all of the parties are on board. I’m excited for it.”

Pacquiao, on the other hand, seemed to have a lot of ideas going on in his head at the moment.

It can be recalled aside from confirming a fight against UFC star Conor McGregor, “Pac-Man” also mentioned that welterweight champions such as Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. are his “options” as well.

“They’re my options, but right now I want to experience fighting an MMA (mixed martial artist),” Pacquiao said “I will also donate a big portion of my income to Filipino COVID-19 victims.”
