Following the Aug. 24 recall for pork sausage by Olympia Meats because it contained a tree nut allergen that was not declared on the label, Nature’s One has recalled its PediaSmart Soy Vanilla Beverage Mix because of a possible milk allergen that was also not listed on the label.

Consumers that have a milk allergen or a milk sensitivity could run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled PediaSmart. The company has not received any reports of illness from the recalled beverage.

The recalled product is a powder beverage that was sold in 12.7-ounce canisters. It has lot numbers and use by dates of PSV 7271 MI1 (Use by Sept 1, 2019), PSV 8078 MI1 (Use by March 1, 2020), PSV 8274 MI1 (Use by Oct 1, 2020), and PSV 9105 MI1 (Use by April 1, 2021).

Labels of the recalled beverage can be viewed here.

The recalled beverage was distributed nationwide and in Canada through online retailers and medical supply distributors. It was not sold in retail stores. According to Nature’s One, lot PSV 9105 MI1 with a use by date of April 1, 2021, was not part of the recall, despite the corrected label.

Consumers can return the recalled beverage to Nature’s One for a replacement, discard the product or request a refund from the company. Questions about the recall can be directed to Nature’s One at 1-888-227-7122, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. ET or by email at recallinfo@naturesone.zendesk.com.

Nature’s One learned of the possible milk allergen during a routine document review of its vendor, which indicated that milk or a milk derivative was added to the beverage’s natural flavor. The company said no milk allergen was detected during third-party testing.
