Justin Thomas took home nearly $3 million when he won the 2022 PGA Championship Sunday.

The 29-year-old two-time major champion won the Wanamaker Trophy and earned $2.7 million after besting Will Zalatoris in a three-hole playoff at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Golf Channel reported.

This year, the PGA Championship offered up its largest purse in tournament history — a massive lump sum of $15 million that represents a $3 million increase from last year’s purse.

The significant bump aims to bring the tournament more in line with the rest of golf’s highest-paying events, which have begun reaching the $20 million range in recent years.

With the payout increase, the PGA Championship matches the Masters in terms of biggest major paydays, according to Golf Digest. In April, Augusta National increased its prize money payout from $11.5 million to $15 million.

Thomas' prize money was also significantly higher than the $2.16 million 2021 PGA Championship winner Phil Mickelson took home for his victory last year.

Zalatoris, meanwhile, will take home a seven-figure consolation prize of $1.62 million for finishing as the runner-up this year.

Prior to his win Sunday, Thomas last triumphed at the PGA Championship in 2017 at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Thomas, who grew up in Kentucky playing the sport with his father Mike, a PGA professional, won the Haskins Award as the nation’s top collegiate golfer in 2012 when he was a freshman at the University of Alabama. He became a professional golfer the following year.

Today, he has an estimated net worth of $30 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Prior to winning the 2022 PGA Championship, he was 16th in career earnings among current players at $47.2 million, according to the PGA Tour's official website.
