  • Rob Gronkowski's agent Drew Rosenhaus suggested that the retired athlete may consider making a comeback in the 2022 season
  • Gronkowski may return if Tom Brady needs help winning another Super Bowl, according to Rosenhaus
  • Gronkowski continues to enjoy his retirement and has not shown any sign of wanting to return

Rob Gronkowski says he is done with professional football and has shown no indication of making a return, but his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has suggested that NFL fans may have not yet seen the last of "Gronk."

Rosenhaus shared his thoughts on the status of the four-time Super Bowl champion during an interview with Rob Maaddi of the Associated Press.

Rosenhaus said that he would not be surprised if Gronkowski has a change of heart and decides to make a comeback at some point later in the 2022 season.

A possible return for the 33-year-old tight end may depend on whether or not his pal, Tom Brady, would need his help winning another Super Bowl, according to the agent.

"He says he's retired for good. I always stick with my opinion, and as I said before, I wouldn't be surprised if circumstances played out in a given fashion where Tom Brady and the Buccaneers need Rob. If later in the season, Rob decides that he's going to come back for his guy Tom Brady and maybe finish the year out and help the team win another championship. That would not surprise me," Gronkowski's agent stated in the interview.

Rosenhaus clarified that these comments do not come from Gronkowski. He said this was only his opinion and "gut feeling."

'I'm not predicting that, and I'm not saying that's coming from Rob, because it's not. Rob says he's retired. But that's just my opinion. I've represented him for more than a decade, and that's just my gut feeling," the 55-year-old player agent explained.

After re-signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in March 2021 on a one-year deal worth $10 million, Gronkowski played for 16 games.

He suffered an injury in Week 3, forcing him out of action for seven weeks. He returned in Week 11, making six receptions on eight targets as Tampa Bay defeated the New York Giants.

From there, Gronkowski stayed the course and did his share to contribute to the Bucs' cause.

After the 2021 NFL season was done, Gronkowski, who first retired in 2019, retired for a second time on June 21, the Associated Press reported.
