'West Memphis Three' May be Released After Ark. Hearing

The West Memphis Three, three men that became imprisoned in 1994 for killing three 8-year-old boys in Arkansas could be released today, the victims' relatives told The Associated Press. A possible deal will include a legal maneuver that will allow Damien Echols, Jessie Misskelley, and Jason Baldwin to say that they are innocent and admit that prosecutors like have enough evidence to win, the person related to the case said, CBS News reported.

Virginia Executes Man for Raping and Killing an Elderly Woman

A Virginia man convicted of raping and killing an elderly woman in her Williamsburg apartment 10 years ago was executed on Thursday by lethal injection, becoming the state's first inmate put to death using a new three-drug mixture. Jerry Terrell Jackson, 30, was pronounced dead at 9:14 p.m. Officials used the sedative pentobarbital as the first of three drugs administered in lethal injections.
