KEY POINTS

  • Paul Pogba netted the winner for Man Utd on Wednesday
  • Pogba has scored twice and assisted once in the last five games
  • Man Utd will next face Liverpool in the FA Cup

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer heaped praise on Paul Pogba, saying he "can do everything" after the midfielder netted the winner in Manchester United's 2-1 victory over Fulham in the Premier League on Wednesday.

Fulham's young forward, Ademola Lookman, put the hosts 1-0 up within five minutes after the kick-off. Edinson Cavani scored a 21st-minute equalizer before Pogba scored the winner to bring Manchester United back to the top of the 2020-21 Premier League table. The result pushed their rivals Manchester City to second place, who had claimed the top spot for a brief time following their 2-0 win over Aston Villa earlier in the day.

"We have always said Paul can do everything, he can play wide, play in midfield, create chances and shoot. Today we felt his position was midfield and what a goal with his left foot. He was so committed and got tackles in as well. Pogba has really come on. He is fit, he can play in midfield and he can play wide. That is key with Paul, getting him to match fit and running fit and he is at the moment. He played very well," Solskjaer told BBC's "Match of the Day" after the Red Devils' 2-1 win at the Craven Cottage.

Pogba had a slow start to the season as he was sidelined for a bit due to injury before he contracted the coronavirus. However, Pogba gained more prominence in recent weeks. He has now started five straight matches in the Premier League, where he has netted two goals and provided an assist.

Manchester United are two points clear at the top, but the second-placed City have a game in hand. As the Red Devils aim to win their first title since the 2012-13 season, Solskjaer played down any title talks.

"It is always going to be talked about when you are halfway through and top of the league but we are not thinking about this, we just have to go one game at a time. It is such an unpredictable season," added Solskajer.

Manchester United will next take on Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday before hosting Sheffield Shield in the league next week.
