KEY POINTS

  • Mo Salah has scored 28 goals this season
  • Liverpool will next face Arsenal in the league Wednesday
  • The Reds have won eight consecutive games in the Premier League

Liverpool FC are reportedly having a triple concern ahead of their crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal.

With Manchester City dropping points Monday, Liverpool have a golden chance to cut down the deficit to just a point, provided they beat Arsenal at Emirates Stadium.

The Reds faced a massive injury scare after Mohamed Salah was substituted in their previous game due to a foot issue. He left the field just minutes after scoring the second goal in Liverpool's 2-0 victory over Brighton.

The "Egyptian King" has been on a different level this season, having netted 28 goals and 10 assists in 35 matches for Liverpool across all competitions. He is the leading goal scorer in the Premier League this season with 20 goals, eight more than Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool teammates Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota.

"He thinks it's not serious but you can see when Mo Salah is sitting down then something is not 100 percent right. I think it was the situation before when he hit the ball and got blocked – he wanted to shoot and got blocked and I think the foot got slightly overstretched. We have to see," Jurgen Klopp said after the Brighton game.

After undergoing scans to analyze the extent of the problem, Salah was missing from the team training Monday, according to Liverpool Echo. The in-form forward now has to race against time to be fit for the upcoming league game in London. The report did not provide any other details. Klopp will give an update in his pre-match press conference later in the day.

Liverpool's left-back Kostas Tsimikas and midfielder James Milner also missed the session at the AXA Training Centre, according to Teamtalk. Tsimikas is the regular deputy to Andy Robertson. Milner has also often stood in on the left for the Scot, apart from contributing to his regular position in the middle.

Center-back Konate returns

There was good news for Liverpool as center-back Ibrahima Konate returned to training Monday. The Frenchman missed last week's Champions League defeat to Inter Milan at Anfield and the latest trip to Amex Stadium, Brighton.

Klopp's Liverpool have 66 points from 28 matches in the 2021-22 Premier League and have a game in hand. The Reds are four points behind leaders Manchester City. Liverpool are set to travel to London to face off against Arsenal on Wednesday and are looking to secure a ninth straight win in the league in the underway campaign.
