  • Man Utd have now won 300 away games in the league
  • They have beaten 47 teams in the Premier League in away games

Manchester United claimed a special record when they defeated Brentford 3-1 in the Premier League on Wednesday.

The victory at the Brentford Community Stadium marked Manchester United's 300th away triumph in the Premier League. The Red Devils are the first-ever side to achieve the feat in the history of the competition, the club said in a news release.

Chelsea (259), Arsenal (246) and Liverpool (239) are next on the list of most away wins in the Premier League, according to Opta Joe.

Other than Manchester United, 49 clubs have featured in the Premier League since 1992 and the Old Trafford side has defeated 47 of them away from home. "Huddersfield Town won four home points against the Reds during their two seasons in the big time, while Swindon Town's only top-flight campaign featured a 2-2 draw with Sir Alex Ferguson's reigning champions at the County Ground. We have now added Brentford to the list too, after tonight's victory," Man Utd's release read.

The two stadiums where Manchester United have won most games are Villa Park (Aston Villa) and Goodison Park (Everton), winning 17 games each at those venues.

The 8-1 thumping of Nottingham Forest in February 1999 remains Manchester United's biggest win on the road. Andy Cole and Dwight Yorke netted a brace each but that day is remembered for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's incredible 12-minute, four-goal haul as a substitute.

After going goalless at half-time Wednesday, Anthony Elanga opened the scoring for interim boss Ralf Rangnick's Manchester United before Mason Greenwood doubled the visitors' lead. Ivan Tony scored a consolation goal for Brentford soon after Marcus Rashford netted the Red Devils' third goal.

With 35 points from 21 games, Manchester United are placed seventh in the 2021-22 Premier League table. Rangnick's side has won 10, drawn five and lost six so far. Brentford are 14th with 23 points from 22 league matches.

Rangnick's side will next host West Ham in the Premier League on Saturday.
