  • Arsenal, Napoli targeting Allan Saint-Maximin
  • Newcastle not interested to deal out Saint-Maximin
  • Arsenal may have the inside-track on Saint-Maximin

Arsenal and Napoli seem to have similar players in mind, both clubs after another player in Allan Saint-Maximin of Newcastle. Most know that both are also locked in a race for the services of Thomas Partey with reports that the Gunners have the inside track.

Both clubs have reportedly touched base with the camp of Saint-Maximin per Le 10 Sport. His outstanding performance this season with the Magpies garnered attention, although there has yet to be a former offer made to the 23-year-old winger.

Also, there are several things to consider. The first is that Saint-Maximin is only in the first year of a six-year deal. The French winger signed a six-year deal with Newcastle worth roughly $20. Aside from that, it appears Newcastle's boss Steve Bruce is not interested in dealing with the winger away.

"There’s no chance of Allan leaving, no chance at all," Bruce said. "I wouldn’t put a price on Allan now," he added.

Sain-Maximin is undoubtedly making waves this season. He has accounted for four goals and seven assists throughout all competitions in England, ESPN reported. That performance alone proves why Newcastle made a huge investment on the 23-year-old and are not interested in dealing him away.

"When you look at the level of money we bought him for, he’s arguably the best pound-for-pound signing in the Premier League. You show me another better," Bruce said.

From here, it will be interesting what ploy Arsenal and Napoli can try to pull off. Saint-Maximin could be a backup option, especially for the club that falls short in the chase for Thomas Partey. If recent reports are true, it appears that the Gunners are at the top of the heap. Napoli could make a serious push for the French footballer. However, Arsenal may not pass up the chance on Saint-Maximin even if they successfully get Partey.

Also, the Gunners may have gotten a bit of an edge on Saint-Maximin. A video showing the 23-year-old's child wearing an Arsenal shirt surfaced recently, somehow indicating that he is following the Gunners. As most posts are seen on social media, it could mean nothing or something. If not by next season, Saint-Maximin could remain as one of the targets Mikel Arteta moving forward.
