Prince Charles broke Princess Diana’s heart after she heard him talking to Camilla Parker Bowles on the phone.

During his previous interview, royal biographer Andrew Morton revealed that Prince Charles and Bowles used to have secret phone calls while he was still married to Princess Diana.

In Morton’s book, “Diana: Her True Story – In Her Own Words,” the Princess of Wales said (via Express), “I once heard him on the telephone in his bath on his handset saying, ‘Whatever happens, I will always love you.’”

After hearing Prince Charles’ conversation with Bowles, Princess Diana came clean and told her husband that she heard what they were talking about, and they got into an argument.

During her previous interview, Princess Diana opened up about a similar incident wherein she and was talking to Prince Charles in his study just hours before he was expected to go on a trip. The phone rang, and Princess Diana answered it. She heard Bowles’ voice at the end of the line.

“You may recall seeing a picture of me sobbing in a red coat when he went off on his airplane. That had nothing to do with him going. The most awful thing had happened before he went. I was in his study talking to him about his trip. The telephone rang, it was Camilla,” she said (Via Express).

Princess Diana contemplated about confronting Prince Charles and Bowles regarding their affair, but she decided to be nice because her husband was about to embark on a five-week engagement.

Meanwhile, just days before their wedding, Princess Diana found a bracelet that Prince Charles was about to give to Bowles. The jewelry was a matching one, and it also had their initials on it.

“I was still so immature to understand all the messages coming my way. And then someone in his office told me that my husband has had a bracelet made for her. I walked into this man’s office one day and I said, ‘Ooh, what’s in that parcel?’ And he said, ‘Oh, you shouldn’t look at that.’ So I opened it and there was the bracelet,” she said.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles divorced in 1996.
