Prince Charles was rumored to have smuggled Camilla Parker Bowles into the palace before his wedding to Princess Diana in 1981.

But Robert Jobson, the author of “Charles at 70: Thoughts, Hopes, and Dreams,” said that this was just a rumor. In fact, Prince Charles felt that it was the late Princess of Wales or someone close to her that spread the major lie.

The Prince of Wales told one of his friends (via The Sun), “The idea that this could have happened and that I could have done any such thing is beyond belief and yet this monstrous nonsense has persisted.”

This became one of the reasons why the future king considered calling off his wedding to Princess Diana. However, he decided to not push through with it because he thought that it would have been cataclysmic.

In related news, Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana’s former secretary, claimed that it was actually the mom of two that snuck in her lover inside the palace. Old Etonian art dealer Oliver Hoare helped Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom in the boot of her car.

Wharfe said that he even saw Hoare semi-naked behind a potted bay tree in one of the corridors in Kensington Palace. The fire alarms went off and he was clutching a cigar.

“Next morning, I tried to make a joke of the incident, suggesting that Diana and Hoare had been playing cards together in her room – perhaps strip poker. She blushed crossly and I knew I’d overstepped the mark,” Wharfe said.

Princess Diana had a string of lovers during and after the fall out of her marriage to Prince Charles. The last person that she dated was Dodi Al Fayed. They both died following a fatal car crash in Paris in 1997. A year earlier, Princess Diana and Prince Charles’ divorce was finalized after four years of separation.
