Prince Charles reportedly uses a clever trick to end his lengthy conversations during engagements.

Royal historian Hugo Vickers previously told People that members of the royal family usually find a quick joke and leave after they’ve shared it with the person that they’re talking to.

“Prince Charles has a quick ‘ha ha’ that enables him to break the conversation,” he said.

Body language expert Judi James also revealed some of Prince Charles’ habits on “Pod the Save the Queen” podcast. She said that when the future King is not enjoying himself, he does what is called the pointless point.

“It’s instead of engaging with things, he gets his index finger out and points at nothing. The Queen’s done it for years and he’s picked up on it as well… He chuckles as well so we all think he’s really happy, but I don’t think he’s totally happy, to be honest,” she said.

Prince Charles also fiddles with his cuff links as a sign of his anxiety. His self-touches are usually done three to four times in a ritual and it’s something that Prince Charles’ grandfather also did.

Meanwhile, Vickers also revealed Prince Philip’s clever trick when ending lengthy and awkward conversations. The Duke of Edinburgh reportedly does a sweeping motion with his hands to avoid getting stuck talking to the same person or group people for long periods of time.

Whenever Prince Philip shakes someone’s hand, he will ask a question and he would also swing his hand from left to right. By the time the person he’s talking to answers the question, he’s already moved on to in the lineup, leaving them behind.

In related news, Prince Charles also made headlines this week after it was revealed that he once told Princess Diana that he shouldn’t have married her. The statement came during a screaming match between the couple and the future King told the late Princess of Wales that one of his friends advised him to not marry her.

Princess Diana became visibly upset with what she heard that she urged Prince Charles to cut ties with some of his pals.
