Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be traveling to Australia with David Beckham for the Invictus Games in October.

According to People, this is because Beckham has just been named as the new Invictus Games ambassador. The professional athlete shared the news with his Instagram followers on Thursday.

“I’ve been lucky enough to meet and work with many serving, veteran and wounded British armed forces personnel over the years and I’ve been humbled by the courage, resilience, and spirit shown by each and every one of them. So, I’ incredibly proud to announce I will be an Ambassador for this year’s Invictus Games in Sydney. The entire Invictus Games team, led by the Duke of Sussex, has achieved remarkable things in such a short space of time, using sport as a powerful force to rehabilitate and united and I can’t wait to be part of the energy and the excellence of the games this year,” he wrote.

The Invictus Games is a Paralympics-style event that was created for wounded and injured armed servicemen. Prince Harry launched it in 2014. This year’s sports gathering will kick off on Oct. 20.

Prince Harry will be joined by his wife at this year’s Invictus Games. Last year, the Duchess of Sussex was also present at the event that was held in Toronto. This also marked the first time that Prince Harry made a public appearance with Markle.

In related news, Prince Harry is friends with Beckham and his wife, Victoria Beckham. In fact, the 33-year-old Duke of Sussex invited the British couple to his wedding on May 19 that was held at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The Beckhams were also invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials in 2011.

Victoria made headlines following the royal wedding after she was spotted looking glum at the event. The Spice Girls member clarified that she wasn’t nervous that’s why she wasn’t photographed smiling at the celebration.

“I wasn’t nervous, no. I was just really honored to have been invited. I would have been nervous if it had been my day,” she said (via Express).
