Prince William and Prince Harry’s roles have reportedly reversed.

When they were much younger, the Duke of Cambridge disliked photographers and the paparazzi. The Duke of Sussex, on the other hand, didn’t mind them as much.

But now that they are older, it seems that Prince William is friendlier towards photographers. His younger brother has tried to distance themselves from the paparazzi on more than one occasion.

In the Amazon Prime documentary “Royalty Up Close: The Photography of Kent Gavin,” the photographer said that while they were still young, Prince William was not happy to see photographers that he would usually keep his head bowed down just like his late mother.

Ken Wharfe, Princess Diana’s former protection officer, said that at the age of five, Prince William already saw the negative aspects of the media and the press.

“Not the writers, but photographers, because the first thing he’s seen is a lens – not seen the person behind it, so, therefore, sees a photographer, sees a lens, that is a negative – ‘I don’t like them.’ And when we did arrive at school, of course, there were the usual 120 to 130 photographers penned in. William gets out of the car, tries to smile but he doesn’t,” Wharfe said.

On his first day of school, Prince William’s photos outside the steps showed him trying to smile genuinely in front of the cameras. But when Prince Harry made an appearance on the steps on the first day of school, he was grinning from ear to ear.

“His brother is just about 8-10 inches taller and he’s looking up at William, so proud that he’s in his uniform with his brother. And Diana is loving it and it said everything about how Diana felt about those two boys,” Wharfe said.

But all this changed when the royal siblings got older. Prince Harry has taken offense over the way the media has been writing stories about him and his wife, Meghan Markle. In fact, the royal couple has an ongoing lawsuit against British tabloids that they believe breached their privacy.
