Princess Diana reportedly received a huge sum of money following her divorce from Prince Charles.

Reader’s Digest reported that the Princess of Wales might have gotten $22.5 million plus an additional $600,000 to pay to her private office following the fallout of her marriage. The publication noted that this is just a small amount compared to the royal family’s net worth.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles announced their separation in 1992, but it was only finalized in 1996. According to People, as early as 1985, Prince Charles and Princess Diana were already faced with marital problems. During her interview with Martin Bashir, Princess Diana said that these issues are what caused her bulimia.

“The cause was the situation where my husband and I had to keep everything together because we didn’t want to disappoint the public, and yet obviously there was a lot of anxiety going on within our four walls,” she said.

And even before the couple tied the knot, it seemed as though Prince Charles and Princess Diana were never on the same page. During their interview, they were asked if they were in love with each other. The Princess of Wales said, “of course,” but Prince Charles replied, “Whatever in love means.”

Princess Diana was also aware of Prince Charles’ special link to Camilla Parker Bowles, who he wed in 2005. While speaking with BBC, Princess Diana insinuated that there were three of them in her marriage.

And Princess Diana also admitted to having an affair with James Hewitt while she was married to her husband.

“Yes, I adored him. Yes, I was in love with him,” she told Bashir.

But despite all of their troubles, Princess Diana said that she didn’t want to get a divorce from Prince Charles. However, she was forced to support his decision because he wanted it.

“I come from a divorced background, and I didn’t want to go into that one again,” she said.
