  • Franck Kessie has just one year left on his AC Milan deal
  • He recently rejected a contract extension
  • Chelsea are ready to offer him $9 million annual wages

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) could reportedly offer AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie a deal worth around $12 million including bonuses to beat Chelsea in the race to secure the player next summer.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are ready to offer Kessie wages around $9 million per season, reported Italian publication Calciomercato.it.

Kessie, who is believed to be a target of Liverpool FC as well, has just one year left on his current deal with AC Milan and it has been reported that he recently rejected a new deal from the San Siro side that was worth around $8 million, compared to his current wages of $3 million.

While PSG are looking at Kessie as an alternate to their top target Paul Pogba, who they now believe could instead prefer a move to Real Madrid next summer, Champions League holders Chelsea want to increase their depth for the next campaign.

The Blues’ current midfield includes prolific players N'Golo Kante and Jorginho. Both the players were up for the 2020-21 UEFA Men's Player of the Year award and the latter won the award after lifting the Euros 2020 trophy with Italy earlier this year. Moreover, both the players will be 30 by the end of the year.

It has also been reported that Chelsea have their eyes on Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni for next summer. The Frenchman has impressed various other clubs and players, including his compatriot Paul Pogba, who wants Manchester United to sign him at the end of the ongoing season.

At the 2021 summer transfer window, PSG produced one of the best shows in the European transfer markets. They signed quite a few big stars for free this summer, including AC Milan's goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. The 22-year-old gloveman was Italy's hero in their Euros 2020 victory, where they defeated England in the final. Apart from Donnarumma, PSG signed Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid, Gini Wijnaldum from Liverpool FC and Lionel Messi from FC Barcelona -- all on free transfers.

The Ligue 1 giants now want to repeat the same with Donnarumma’s former AC Milan teammate Kessie at the 2022 summer market.
