Through two weeks of the 2020 NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams look to be serious championship contenders.

It was only two seasons ago that LA won its second straight division title and lost in the Super Bowl. A disappointing 2019 campaign coupled with the rise of the San Francisco 49ers left the Rams out of the title conversation.

The Rams weren’t a “bad” team last year. They still finished with a winning record and would've made the playoffs under the new postseason format. Poor play from the offensive line and Jared Goff’s ineffectiveness resulted in a third-place finish in the NFC West.

Both the quarterback and his protection have been much improved in the early going. Goff has completed 69% of his passes for a 108.5 passer rating in wins over the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles. Los Angeles is second in the NFC with a plus-21 point differential.

The Buffalo Bills are also 2-0 in Week 3, making the case to be considered a serious contender in the AFC. Buffalo hosts Los Angeles Sunday afternoon.

The betting line favors the Bills by 2.5 points at home, according to odds compiled by OddsShark. The over/under is 47.5.

Josh Allen has put up even better numbers than Goff. Buffalo’s quarterback leads the NFL with 729 passing yards. Allen ranks third with a 122.9 passer rating and has completed 70.4% of his passes. He has 75 rushing yards, seven total touchdowns and no turnovers.

Allen has been great, though he and the Bills have been aided by an easy schedule. The quarterback had two fumbles in a 27-17 win over the lowly New York Jets. Allen got away with a potential interception that was dropped in a 31-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

Allen and Buffalo’s offense should be good Sunday. They probably won’t be great against Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey and an LA defense that has surrendered the second-lowest passer rating.

The Rams are 9-2 against the spread in their last 11 road games, according to OddsShark. Playing away from home in an empty stadium shouldn’t be a problem for Sean McVay’s team.

A third consecutive win to start the season should remind everyone just how good the Rams can be.

Prediction: Los Angeles over Buffalo, 27-24
