‘Riverdale’
Is Joaquin (Rob Raco) the brother of Betty (Lili Reinhart) in “Riverdale” Season 2? The CW

“Riverdale” Season 2 will soon reveal the identity of Betty Cooper’s (Lili Reinhart) brother, but there is already one fan theory suggesting who he could be.

According to Bustle, one Reddit user believes that Betty’s brother and Kevin’s (Casey Cott’s) boyfriend, Joaquin (Rob Raco), are just one and the same person. In Season 1, Alice Cooper (Madchen Amick) dropped the bomb on Betty that she has an older brother. She also told her that she had the infant adopted several years ago.

On top of the Reddit user’s theory, there are also some rumors suggesting that Betty and her brother do not share the same dad. If Joaquin is really Betty’s MIA brother and considering that he is a member of the Southside Serpents, it’s possible that his dad is not Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro). This fan theory opens up a new storyline regarding Alice and Hal’s marriage. Alice may have had an affair with another man, and this man could be Jughead’s (Cole Sprouse) dad, FP Jones (Skeet Ulrich).

The problem with this theory is that FP and Alice sharing a son also means Betty and Jughead, who are in a romantic relationship with each other, share a sibling. They will still not be blood-related, but things could get awkward between Betty and Jughead really fast. Their relationship is already at risk with the latter’s decision to join the Southside Serpents, and this could just make everything worse.

Unfortunately, fans of the hit CW series still have to wait for three months to find out the truth about Alice’s son and Betty’s brother. But another exciting storyline to watch out for is whether or not Archie’s (KJ Apa) dad, Fred (Luke Perry), survived the shooting. By the looks of it, he will, since he was spotted with Mary Andrews (Molly Ringwald) on set. A photo of Veronica (Camila Mendes) wearing a wedding gown has also been circulating online as well, but it doesn’t seem possible for her and Archie to tie the knot this very early on in the series.

“Riverdale” Season 2 will premiere on Oct. 11 at 9 p.m. EST.
