‘Riverdale’
What will Archie (KJ Apa) do to protect his loved ones in “Riverdale” Season 2, episode 4? The CW

“Riverdale” Season 2, episode 4 will continue to feature a much darker Archie Andrews (KJ Apa).

In “Chapter Seventeen: The Town That Dreaded Sundown,” Archie’s attempts at seeking revenge for his dad will spiral out of control. This will result in his girlfriend, Veronica (Camila Mendes), worrying about Archie. She will be surprised to know that Archie would do anything and everything just to make sure the masked man will no longer target him or his loved ones.

While speaking with TV Line, executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa also dished on the two big things that will take place in this week’s episode. “One is, the investigation really starts to heat up. Who is this person? Why is he doing what he’s doing? Why our town? Why now? We kind of play the investigation a little bit like in Zodiac, on a much smaller level,” he said.

In the teaser released by The CW, Archie tells Veronica that he wants to be the last person that the big bad will see. He also has a gun in his hand and is ready to shoot at whoever comes at him.

Mayor McCoy (Robin Givens) will also organize an emergency meeting among the residents of Riverdale after she is told that their lives are in danger. The meeting will prove to be more of a casualty because the attendees will have differing opinions over the issues that will be raised.

Elsewhere in episode 4, Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) will keep some information from her boyfriend, Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse). When he finds out about it, Jughead will just grow more distant from Betty. To make things worse, Jughead is now a member of the Southside Serpents, and they will have a showdown against the people in the north side of town.

Sacasa explained, “The other thing is, the rise of the Red Circle, we start leaning into the rivalries between Riverdale High and Southside High, and the north side and the south side. I think that starts to come to a head. It’s sort of like ‘Black Hood Killer Fever’ grips that town of Riverdale.”

“Riverdale” Season 2 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
