KEY POINTS

  • Roberto Soldic is set to have his ONE Championship debut this December
  • Murad Ramazanov has been chosen to be his opponent

Highly-touted Croatian standout Roberto Soldic is expected to get his hands full as ONE Championship recently revealed his opponent tasked to give him a stern test in his much-awaited promotional debut.

During the live broadcast of ONE on Prime Video 2 over the weekend, it was announced that Murad Ramazanov had accepted the assignment to welcome Soldic in one of the feature attractions at the upcoming ONE on Prime Video 5.

Ramazanov has gained a reputation as someone who should not be overlooked ever since he directed his career path to the Singapore-based combat sports outfit in 2020 after plying his trade for the better part of his eight-year prizefighting career in the local mixed martial arts (MMA) circuit of Russia.

With an immaculate professional record of 11-0, the 26-year-old Makhachkala native began to turn heads on the world stage when he outpointed ex-interim Pancrase welterweight champion Hiroyuki Tetsuka via unanimous decision.

He then followed it up by scoring an upset victory at the expense of former ONE welterweight titleholder Zebaztian Kadestam by way of unanimous decision ten months later.

Ramazanov was initially penciled to make a quick turnaround this past February against two-time world title challenger Ken Hasegawa, but the bout was canceled due to undisclosed reasons.

Now, the Russian gets an opportunity to establish himself as a bonafide contender for the ONE welterweight championship, which is currently in the possession of Kiamrian Abbasov.

But before Ramazanov moves on to the juncture, he needs to get past Soldic, who sent shockwaves in the MMA world when he decided to ink an exclusive deal with ONE Championship back in August.

Soldic confirmed the date of his maiden appearance under the organization's banner last September 25 on his social media page.

Known by his moniker "Robocop," Soldic owns a win-loss slate of 20-3 with a remarkable 90% finishing rate and has made a name for himself as one of the best talents on the regional scene by simultaneously holding the KSW welterweight and middleweight belts.

ONE on Prime Video 5 is set to take place at the 20,000-seater SM Mall Of Asia Arena in Metro Manila, Philippines on the morning of December 3 (December 2 in the United States).

Meanwhile, ONE 164 featuring the strawweight title grudge match between Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brook is scheduled to happen on the evening of the same day.
