Robin Williams’ death was a suicide, authorities confirmed Tuesday. Williams’ personal assistant found the actor in his California home with a belt around his neck and wounds on his wrists, investigators told reporters.

“It is a suicide due to asphyxia from hanging,” Lt. Keith Boyd of the Marin County Sheriff’s Office said. He added that “the investigation is ongoing.”

Boyd revealed that the actor was found suspended from the door frame by his belt and was in a seated position. When asked about a suicide note, Boyd said, “We’re not discussing that at this time.”
