Italia Ricci and Peter Porte star in tonight’s new Hallmark Channel movie, “Rome in Love.”

Not only is this the first Summer Nights film of 2019, but it’s also Ricci’s first-ever Hallmark movie.

The actress joins the family after starring as April Carver on ABC Family’s (now Freeform) “Chasing Life,” as Silver Banshee on The CW’s “Supergirl” and as Emily Rhodes on Netflix’s recently-canceled (after first getting canceled on ABC) drama series, “Designated Survivor.”

Meanwhile, her co-star, Porte, is no stranger to the network. He made his debut in 2017 with “Love at the Shore,” opposite Amanda Righetti, and has also starred in “A Gift to Remember” with Ali Liebert and “Love, Once and Always” with Amanda Schull.

In this new project of theirs, “Rome in Love,” directed by Eric Bross and written by Topher Payne, an American actress finds herself getting the chance of a lifetime, both in work and in love.

“Amelia Tate’s (Ricci) world is turned upside down when she is plucked from obscurity in Bend, Oregon to star in a remake of the classic film Roman Holiday,” according to the synopsis. “After being flown to the Eternal City for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, Amelia is obliged to spend time with American reporter Philip Hamilton (Porte), who has been assigned by an Italian magazine to write the story that will introduce her to the world.”

The Hallmark film’s cast also includes Isabelle Connolly (Kathryn), Vincent Riotta (Petruzzi), Barbara Bouchet (Richichi), Ross McCall (Dominic), Helen Pearson (Vivien), Anna Manuelli (Sofia), Gian Marco Tavani (Vincent), Manuel Ferrarini (Enzo), Jonathan Stoddard (Jonathan) and Alessandro Giallocosta (Chauffeur).
