Prince Charles received flak several years ago after his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles while he was still married to Princess Diana was made public.

On Aug. 31, 1997, the Princess of Wales passed away following a tragic car accident. At that time, the heir to the throne didn’t also escape criticisms after he was blamed for his ex-wife’s demise.

In 2005, the future King decided to wed the love of his life, Camilla Parker Bowles, in a civil wedding ceremony. The couple was called disrespectful for marrying Camilla just a few years after Princess Diana passed away.

On the online forum site Quora, Jade Worthington, a social worker, said that her opinion on Prince Charles evolved within the last 21 years but since she doesn’t know Prince Charles personally, she can’t say much about the royal.

“My family of origin liked Charles but I have never liked him. I have always been repulsed by him… Some people just give you the creeps… Watching the royal wedding as a child, I wondered how this beautiful young woman could possibly consummate the marriage with this creepy, ugly, old man,” she said.

Victoria J. Kidd-Collins, a former student at the Olivet Nazarene University, said that her opinion of Prince Charles changed but only in the past year after she learned the real reason why the heir to the throne didn’t immediately wed Camilla in the 1970s.

Since Prince Charles wasn’t allowed to marry Camilla decades ago, he was forced to marry the likes of Princess Diana. Since they didn’t know each other well, it became difficult for them to make their marriage work.

“When Diana was alive, I despised Charles. He was a [expletive] for preferring such an ugly [expletive] to Diana… Diana was only 5 years older than I and I fell for the fairytale that was presented to the public… I loved everything about her, from her clothes to her hats and hairstyles,” she said.
