At the CES 2016 event, Samsung unveiled two new variants of the Gear S2 Classic with Rose Gold and Platinum exterior. These models will be made available for purchase in the U.S. on Friday.

Speaking of price, the Rose Gold and Platinum Gear S2 will apparently set the buyers back by $449.99. Samsung's online store, along with Best Buy, Amazon, Macy's and others will be selling the new versions.

GSM Arena, meanwhile, noted that the smartwatches are plated with Rose Gold and Platinum, and not made of it. This explains the affordable pricing tag. The Rose Gold model comes with ivory genuine leather band, while the Platinum model comes with a black genuine leather band.

Samsung said that the unique rotating-bezel design of the watch gives “consumers a quick, precise way to navigate through their notifications, apps, and widgets.”

There is no difference in the configuration details of the new variants when compared to the regular Gear S2 Classic model. It comes with a 1.2-inch circular Super AMOLED display/dial, aided by 360 x 360 resolution.

Under the hood, a dual-core processor, running at 1 GHz, powers the gear with 512 MB of RAM backing it. This device comes equipped with 4 GB of native storage space.

The Gear S2 Classic spots IP 68 certification for water and dust resistance. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and a slew of sensors. A good-enough 250 mAh battery cell keeps the lights on. To top it off, this watch comes with wireless charging capability on board.

This smartwatch is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.4 and above. In any case, the phones should have at least 1.5 GB of RAM. Readers can check out the comprehensive list of handsets supported by Gear S2 via this official link.
