The Seattle Seahawks can clinch the NFC West title by defeating the San Francisco 49ers in the final Sunday night game of the 2019 regular season. If a few things go Seattle’s way, the No.1 seed in the conference will also be on the line.

The Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints both have to lose Sunday afternoon in order for Seattle to have a chance at securing home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs. Both teams are scheduled to play at 1 p.m. EST.

The betting odds suggest there is a very slim chance that such a scenario will play out.

Green Bay and New Orleans are both heavy Week 17 favorites as they also pursue a first-round bye and the NFC’s top seed. The Packers are laying 12.5 points against the Detroit Lions, according to OddsShark. The Saints are 13-point favorites against the Carolina Panthers.

Depending on the sportsbook, the Packers are given anywhere from -615 to 750 odds to win in Detroit. The Saints’ moneyline is -700 at multiple sportsbooks.

With the Lions and Panthers given around +500 odds each to pull off the upset, the odds that both teams will win straight up are approximately 35/1.

Detroit has an eight-game losing streak. Carolina has lost seven straight games. Both teams are down to their third-string quarterbacks.

If Green Bay and New Orleans somehow lose, Seattle will still have to beat San Francisco to earn the No.1 seed. The Seahawks are three-point underdogs at home with +160 odds to win straight up.

A moneyline parlay that includes the Lions, Panthers and Seahawks has approximately +9260 odds. That means Seattle has close to 100/1 odds to get home-field advantage until Super Bowl LIV.

San Francisco controls its own destiny. Because they have beaten the Packers and Saints head-to-head, the 49ers will get the No.1 seed if they beat the Seahawks Sunday night and win the NFC West.
