Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber's reconciliation may have not received the approval of the actress' family.

Last week, law enforcement sources told TMZ that police visited Gomez's mom, Mandy Teefey, for a welfare check. She was apparently voluntarily transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Prior to the incident, Teefey and Gomez reportedly had a heated argument concerning the latter's reunion with Bieber. When Teefey learned that Gomez and the "Sorry" crooner were in couple's therapy, she was apparently not happy because she does not want Bieber for her daughter. For Gomez's mother, getting couple's therapy meant that they are serious about their relationship and that it might last longer than she thought.

Gomez's mother was reportedly released from the hospital on the same day she was admitted. She is giving her daughter space to figure out if she really wants Bieber in her life. However, her family already knows that they do not want him for her. Gomez's family does not like Bieber because of the things he did to her in the past. In fact, the publication noted that some of the songstress' family members have vowed to never forgive or accept Bieber.

Meanwhile, an insider also explained Teefey's hospitalization was not just due to Bieber. "It's been a stressful time for Mandy and she made the decision herself to go to the hospital and make sure everything was okay," a source told People. "This wasn't just about Justin. It's true her family doesn't approve of Justin, but this wasn't just over a fight about him."

Unlike Gomez's mother, Bieber's mother, Pattie Malette, has already expressed her approval for the "Bad Liar" singer for her son. According to Malette, she does not know much about the couple's personal relationship because her son rarely shares a lot of details with her, but she loves Gomez. She also explained that as a mom, she supports whatever the "What Do You Mean" singer chooses and wants to do in his life.

"I support anything he does, if he loves her I love her, and I've met her and we have a special bond so I think she's precious," Malete told People of Gomez. "I can't really speak on their relationship, that's between them."

Meanwhile, Gomez was recently named Billboard's 2017 Woman of the Year. In her interview with the publication, the "Spring Breakers" actress expressed her thoughts about people's opinions of her relationship with her current beau.

"I mean I don't think anybody truly, actually cares," Gomez told Billboard. "I think for me what's been great is that I've been able to live the life that I've wanted for myself. And that doesn't always look the way people maybe think it should look, but it's not really my concern anymore."
