Seven of the 28 deminers kidnapped by armed militants in the western Afghan province of Farah last week, were beheaded by their abductors and their bodies recovered on Sunday by the police and tribal elders, according to an AFP report.

The deminers were busy doing their regular work of cleaning the mines from the area when Taliban attacked.

They were taken to an unknown place and no responsibility for the kidnapping had been claimed.

All those kidnapped were employees of a mine clearing agency -- Demining Agency for Afghanistan (DAFA).
