KEY POINTS

  • AMD is set to launch the radeon RX 6000 series in October
  • Ahead of its release, several images of AMD's upcoming graphics cards series were leaked online
  • The leak started to surface following Nvidia's launch of its GeForce RTX 30 series

A handful of AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT images were recently leaked online. A few days ago, AMD shared the official pictures of the Big Navi flagship GPU. Interestingly, leaks about AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics cards started to surface online following Nvidia’s announcement of its GeForce RTX 30 line up.

The latest images of the alleged AMD Radeon RX 6900XT came from YouTubers RedGamingTech and JayZTwoCents. Several sites claimed that the tipsters have the same source of controlled leaks. The upcoming Big Navi flagship GPU is shown sitting on a foam sheet and shot from different perspectives in the leaked images.

The four images of the alleged AMD Radeon RX 6900XT show how the triple axial-tech fan shroud assembly sports a massive aluminum-based heatsink under it. The card has dual 8-pin connectors and has a shroud that looks like plastic with an aluminum plate running in the middle.

This particular plate seemingly runs all the way to the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT card. Additionally, it is noticeable that the card features a couple of screws that allows users to open two embedded plates on the backplate. These screws could open up and reveal the back part of the PCB.

Essentially, AMD intends a more enclosed graphics card similar to the design of Nvidia GeForce RTX 20 or RTX 30 series graphics cards. Apart from this, the backplate comes with an exposed retention bracket that can be unscrewed by removing four screws. This feature is also found on Nvidia’s Founder Edition cards considering it increases the mounting pressure on the GPU that helps disperses heat from the GPU to the heat sink.

The AMD Radeon RX6900 XT also features a backplate with a retention bracket to ensure that the cooler is in place. It seems that the BIG Navi GPU will be a standard two-slot reference design similar to Nvidia’s RTX 3080. AMD is scheduled to officially unveil the Radeon RX 6000 series GPU family on October 28. With Nvidia’s recent launch of its graphics cards series, the second half of this year would be a very exciting time, especially for PC gamers and hardware enthusiasts.
