Shay Mitchell has finally shared her audition tape for “Pretty Little Liars,” which was recorded eight years ago.

On Friday, the actress uploaded the audition tape alongside her commentary on her YouTube channel. Mitchell revealed that she was working bottle service the night before her audition. She made sure to grab the opportunity because she knew that auditions don’t come often for people like her because she was living in Canada at that time.

The 30-year-old actress also revealed that she shot her audition tape at her agency’s office because she didn’t have the money to go to an actual studio. She also said that she was so nervous recording her audition because she knew someone from Los Angeles would watch it.

When it was time to show her tape, Mitchell couldn’t help but comment on what she was wearing at that time. The actress couldn’t also help but laugh at the way she threw her lines. At one point, it appeared as though she had a smile on her face while talking about a dead character from the series.

Mitchell also revealed that she got braces after submitting the tape. She later on got booked for the role of Emily Fields and portrayed the character for seven seasons.

After “Pretty Little Liars” wrapped up earlier this year, Mitchell immediately got cast in Lifetime’s “You.” In September, she told Entertainment Tonight that “You” has some similarities with “PLL.”

“It’s juicy… It still has all those elements that ‘PLL’ had with it being sort of a mystery, there’s a romance part to it and it’s just exciting. It’s definitely going to have those elements. I think it’s a little bit more mature… It deals with a lot of crazy things like ‘PLL’ did, but it’s a different storyline. If you loved ‘PLL,’ you’re gonna absolutely love ‘You.’ And if you never saw ‘PLL,’ you’re going to love ‘You,’” she said.

Mitchell will be bringing to life the character of Peach from Caroline Kepnes’ novel of the same name. The actress said that Peach is very different from Emily. “She is known to not be the nicest,” she said.
