As soon as the fly landed on Mike Pence’s head during the vice presidential debate, “Saturday Night Live” fans were waiting to see how the NBC show would tackle it. They didn't have to wait long. The cold open on last night’s “SNL” showed that the fly was Joe Biden, transporting himself in to help out Kamala Harris.

The skit starts as moderator Susan Page (Kate McKinnon) introduces Pence (Beck Bennett), who gives a curtsey, and Harris (Maya Rudolph), who comes out dancing and spraying disinfectant.

The “SNL” cold open’s debate starts with Pence dodging COVID-19 questions and Harris getting interrupted. “I’m speaking,” she says, quoting one of Harris’ most memorable and repeated lines from the vice presidential debate.

“While he speaks, I’m gonna smile at him like I’m in a TJ Maxx and a white lady asked me if I work here,” she explains before throwing it back to Pence. She explains her gestures throughout Pence’s answer, noting her “Clair Huxtable side eye” and a look that will make sure every black woman and gay man knows exactly what she’s thinking.

“SNL” isn’t just critical of Pence. Harris explains, “While I personally wanted to ban fracking, now that I know Pennsylvania loves it, I just want to say this: Youse guys can bet on your Wawa cheesesteak hoagie and all the water in Schuylkill River that J’Biden ain’t banning fracking. Go Eagles.’”

After Pence explains Trump’s medicine regimen (which includes helium so his head doesn’t fall over), Harris is asked about packing the Supreme Court. She spits out her martini and decides to tell the story of Biden proposing that she be his VP.

Finally, “SNL” gets to the fly that stole the debate spotlight. Biden (Jim Carrey) teleports himself to the debate, and he’s somehow turned into a fly. It quickly becomes a parody of “The Fly,” with Carrey impersonating Jeff Goldblum while on top of Pence’s head. He’s joined by Herman Cain reincarnated as a fly (Kenan Thompson).
